Subjects and objects of a dancer in residence.

Just_well_well © Lynda Gaudreau

Marie Claire became dancer in residence at l’Agora in 2017, as the Wilder was first opening its doors. After a year of maternity leave in 2018, she is wrapping up her studio work from January to May 2019. With guests, she is presenting the circulation and creation that emerged from the space.

She danced for four seasons at the now defunct Le Groupe Dance Lab in Ottawa, training daily with Peter Boneham. He remains her great friend and mentor, and they are currently working on a book about his teaching practice.

Alongside and through her artistic practice, she translates, writes and teaches dance.

Based in Montréal, Marie Claire Forté is driven by the relational, experiential and experimental potential of dance. As a choreographer and dancer, she leads her own projects and has recently been working with Louise Bédard, Aurélie Pédron, PME-ART and Martin Bélanger. She is currently dancer in residence at l’Agora de la danse (2017-2019).

In 2016, she and her friend Sophie Bélair Clément created the exhibition project – I’d rather something ambiguous. Mais précis à la fois. with the support of the Leonard & Bina Ellen Program in Support of Artistic Production.

With the collaboration of  Stacey Désilier, Claudia Fancello, Mairéad Filgate, Katya Montaignac, James Phillips and Alanna Kraaijeveld.
