Armed with headphones and his or her imagination, the Tête-à-tête spectator adopts the perspective of the artist, as though being told a personal secret. An artist of the body, imagery and sublime lighting, Stéphane Gladyszewski proposes an immersive experience for two that is at the crossroads of a theatre of objects, an optical installation and an existential tale. Invited to tuck one’s face into a mask embedded in a small wall, the spectator’s gaze becomes narrowly focused, like peering through a keyhole. By merging his vision with that of the performer, viewer and performer connect through eye contact as a staged portrayal unfolds. Tête-à-tête is a simple and ingenious private showing, an intimate encounter that questions the identity of one spectator at a time. Fifteen minutes of tacit subjectivity... by appointment only.
