Catherine Gaudet invites us to share in a profoundly human experience brought to life by Louise Bédard and Sarah Williams, an exceptional duet of female dancers.
Two women find themselves in a strange land, with only ghostly traces from a distant world. Two reincarnated children emerge from parallel universes and try to bridge this new world and their past lives, fragments of which appear in flashes. These nostalgic bursts surface, expand, envelop, and then disappear. Fervour and mystery permeate this piece that is a world unto itself, one that has created its own dimensions of time and space.
Since the age of 18, Catherine Gaudet has been exploring the complexity and ambiguity of the human psyche, finding ways to convey its contradictions with the body. She portrays an elusive reality, a presence in the world that is both internally driven and swayed by external forces. From this standpoint she has created a universe made up of innumerable, overlapping identities that are in-flux. Her dance is a descent into oneself, a penetration of the deep layers within beings that must undergo perpetual transformation.
Gaudet created her first choreography in 2004. She has since created eight full-length works and several short works that have been presented in Quebec and internationally. Gaudet is currently the artistic and executive director at Compagnie Catherine Gaudet, a member of Circuit-Est centre chorégraphique, an associate creator at DLD – Daniel Léveillé Danse, and an associate artist at Agora de la danse.
