Presented together with Tangente, Deborah Dunn offers four solos inspired by T.S. Eliot’s series of poems entitled Four Quartets: Burnt Norton, East Coker, The Dry Salvages, Little Gidding. Each poem is a reflection on the very nature of time and its influence on the human condition. The choreographer embraces the spirit and abstract nature of Eliot’s pieces, moving through the musicality of language, encountering grace and the power of words. A freshness is given to Eliot’s meditations, a refinement and a contemporary humanness. With Four Quartets, the choreographer distances herself from the more narrative style that has dominated her creations in the past few years and thrusts us into a contemplative, modern and formal world, without sacrificing the sensuality and humour usually associated with her work.
