Curators and Concept

Alexandra ‘ Spicey’ Landé

Montreal choreographer, performer and teacher, ‘Spicey’ is a major figure in hip-hop dance in Quebec. In 2005, she founded the Bust A Move Festival (2005-2015) which became the biggest street dance competition in Canada (co-presented by TOHU). Eager to further expand her artistic aspirations and to actively promote street dance and its performers, ‘Spicey’ founded the dance company Ebnflōh in 2015. With the support of collaborators and peers, her approach to hip-hop as choreography evolved, becoming more exploratory, radical and authentic. In-Word, her 2019 piece was awarded “Prix Révélation” at Les Prix de la Danse de Montréal. The piece was a finalist for the 35th Grand Prix du Conseil des arts de Montréal. Danse Danse presented her most recent work, La Probabilité du Néant in October 2021 at Place des Arts in Montreal. It was presented in Vancouver at the end of 2023.

Frédérique ‘PAX’ Dumas (AMXSE)

Frédérique ‘PAX’ Dumas (AMXSE) is a performing artist and multidisciplinary creator. She has been an innovator of the hip hop & street dance community locally and internationally. Her work has been presented on various platforms, notably at the V&A museum (London, U.K). In 2018, she founded A.MUSE, whose mission is to showcase culture and art through various artistic mediums. Her many areas of interest include dance, design, film and digital media.
