COIL – undo, redo, do.
Choreographer Dana Gingras invites audiences to slow down and draw closer to what is essential through a work in which the body becomes a site of memory, transformation, and repair. Performed by the compelling Caroline Gravel, accompanied onstage by violinist Sophie Trudeau of Godspeed You! Black Emperor, and featuring scenography by Caroline Monnet, this intimate performance blurs the boundaries between chaos and control, nature and structure.
Inspired by the motif of the spiral, COIL creates a space where the body forgets, remembers, and begins again. Driven by dance, live music, and a strong visual dimension, the work immerses audiences in a sensory experience where slowness, fragility, and resistance become forces of survival and reinvention.
Animals of Distinction was founded in 2006 in Montréal/Tio’tià by Dana Gingras. The company strives to create opportunities for social, choreographic, and kinesthetic reflection, extending its research into other artistic forms through interdisciplinary collaborations.
