Le délire domestique lampoons the comfort of the household with seven solos constructed like quirky, modern and poetic visions of the world of women, seven tableaux that twist the neck of clichés and of collective memory. With her usual extravagance tinged with insolence and absurdity, Deborah Dunn unveils an inner life lurking between reality and fantasy. Each dancer in turn takes on the gestures of daily life – the eternal ritual of cleaning house and cooking meals – heightening the beauty of the ordinary and the everyday. In a generous, evocative dance, each section vibrates with its own particular colour and texture. Given the extreme concentration of the performer’s gaze, each solo becomes a luminous, visceral portrait of a remarkable dancer. An explosive mixture of minutiae and invention, Le délire domestique captures the intimate and infuses it with surrealist imagery in an intense celebration of femininity.
