Creative Residency at Agora
Une première fois

Given the enthusiasm and great success of its first edition, Agora de la danse is thus launching a call for proposals for two artistic residencies for Quebec’s professional dance artists who have not previously received support from Agora or had their shows presented in its venues. Each residency consists of two weeks working in our Espace blanc venue.

By means of these two residencies, Agora aims to:

  • reinforce its commitment to the dance community
  • encourage in-person, back-and-forth contact and artistic exchange
  • give voice to a diversity of dance and movement practices.

Agora de la danse

For more than 30 years, Agora de la danse has been inviting audiences to take part in diverse and stimulating contemporary dance experiences in its downtown Montreal venue. Agora not only presents dance performances, but also actively supports the creation of dance. Every year it presents a season of shows, most of them new works. It offers creative residencies to artists, co-produces shows and builds bridges between artists and citizens.

Objectives*

  • To provide Quebec dance professionals with an opportunity for initial support in the creation of new works
  • To discover and assist new artistic approaches
  • To stimulate the development of a wide range of dance forms
  • To encourage partnership between artists and the Agora team by means of active feedback during the artistic residencies

*A residency entails no obligation to present a performance.
