Dance and textile

Fascinated by the work of choreographers, textile artist Louise Lemieux-Bérubé presents in Agora’s Laboratoire a series of works inspired by contemporary dance. Developed from photography and processed images, before finally being hand-made using Jacquard loom technology, her work here recalls the aesthetics of the dance piece Flower by Lucie Grégoire and Yoshito Ohno, as well as Sur les glaces du Labrador by Sarah Chase. Her concept is inspired by the movement of dancers, sometimes using blurry weavings or image sequences from choreography to accentuate the forms and the rhythm
